Creating and Editing Aprons in FSX Planner
FSX Planner provides you with tools to easily create and edit aprons.
|
Creating a new apron

To create a new apron you select the apron editing tool from the toolbar. Once this tool is selected, you
left click once at the location you'd like to place each vertex of the apron. The apron is draw in real
time as you place each vertex. To finish your apron, you should double click when placing the last vertex.
You will know that the apron is finsihed because the last vertex will become selected, thereby highlighting
it and placing it latitude and longitude in the Vertex Position text fields in the Apron Data display.
After you create your apron you can specify the surface of the apron by selecting it from the Surface drop
down in the Apron Data display. This display also lets you specify the surface detail and draw detail
settings for the apron.
Notes on creating aprons
You should not create an apron which crosses over itself as this may cause problems or crashes in the
simulator.

Moving an existing apron
An existign apron can be moved, or dragged, to a new location using either the defaul pointer tool or the
apron editing tool.
Moving the apron with the default pointer tool
To move the apron using the default pointer tool, simply left click on the apron and drag it to the desired
location. The apron will be selected and highlighted during this process. However, none of the vertices
will be displayed.
|
Moving the apron with the apron editing tool
To move the apron using the apron editing tool, make sure the apron editing tool is selected, and then left
click on the apron and drag it to the desired location. The apron will be selected and highlighted during
this process. In addition, the vertices of the apron are also displayed and any apron edge lights are hidden
making it easier to adjust the apron. The apron also becomes transparent, allowing you to see what is
underneath it as you reposition it.
|
Moving a vertex of an existing apron
Every vertex of an apron can be individually repositioned using the apron editing tool. Once the tool is
selected, left click on the apron to select it. This will select the apron and show all its vertices. Left
clicking on a vertex will select it and display its latitude and longitude position in the Apron Data window.
You can then drag the vertex to a new position.
You can also specify an exact latitude and longitude for the vertex by typing that information into the
latitude and longitude text fields. Make sure you hit the return key after entering each coordinate in
order to upate the location of the vertex.
Note, when editing specific vertices you may need to zoom in to see them more easily.

Adding a vertex to an existing apron
Vertices can be easily added to existing aprons by shift-clicking when using the apron editing tool.
To add a vertex, select the apron editing tool and then select the apron you wish to add the vertex
to by left clicking on it. Once the apron is selected, hold down the shift key and click on the edge
of the apron where you want the new vertex to appear. The existing vertices will all be renumbered
to accomodate the newly inserted vertex.
Hint: When shift-clicking, make sure you click just slightly inside the bounds of the apron. Clicking
just outside can cause FSX Planner to think that you are finished working on the apron and it may
therefore unselect the apron and not add the new vertex.
|
Deleting a vertex from an existing apron
Vertices can be easily deleted from existing aprons by control-clicking when using the apron editing tool.
To delete a vertex, select the apron editing tool and then select the apron you wish to delete the vertex
from by left clicking on the apron. Once the apron is selected, hold down the control key and click on the
vertex that you want to delete. The remaining vertices will be renumbered to adust for the deleted vertex.
