FSX Planner provides you with tools to easily create and edit boundary fences and blast fences.

Creating a new fence

To create a new fence you select either the boundary fence or blast fence editing tool from the toolbar. Once this tool is selected, you left click once at the location you'd like to place each vertex of the fence. The fence is draw in real time as you place each vertex. To finish your fence, you should double click when placing the last vertex. You will know that the fence is finished because the last vertex will become selected, thereby highlighting it and placing it latitude and longitude in the Vertex Position text fields in the Fence Data display.

Modifying an Existing Fence Vertex
You can modify an existing fence by moving its various vertices. This can be done using either the fence editing tool or the default pointer tool. Simply click on the desired vertex and drag it to its new location.

Specifying the Exact Latitude/Longitude of a Vertex
You can specify the exact latitude and longitude of any vertex. To do so, select the vertex by clicking on it using either the default pointer tool or the fence editing tool. The current latitude and longitude of the vertex will be displayed in the Fence Data display. You can then type in a new latitude or longitude position for the vertex. To record the new data once it is entered hit the return key or the tab key.

Adding a Vertex to a Fence
Vertices can be added to an existing fence by using the shift key. First, choose the fence editing tool and then select the fence to which the vertex should be added. Then place the cursor over the part of the fence where you wish to add the vertex. Hold down the shift key and click the left mouse button to add the new vertex.

Removing a Vertex From a Fence
Vertices can be removed from a fence by using the control key. First, choose the fence editing tool and then select the fence that contains the vertex you wish to remove. Then hold down the control key and click the vertex you wish to remove. The vertex will be removed from the fence. Note that if your fence contains only two vertices and you delete one of them you will end up with an invisible fence that contains one vertex. This will cause an error during compilation, so it is advised that you run the clean up options before compiling.

Combining Two Fences
You can combine two fences into one by holding down the shift key when moving a vertex. To do so, select the end vertex of the first fence, using the pointer tool or fence editing tool. Then drag this vertex over the end of another fence and hold down the shift key when you release the mouse button. The two fences will be combined into one longer fence. Note that you can only join fences at their ends. Attempting to join a fence to the middle of another fence has no effect.

Cutting A Fence
You can easily cut a fence into two sections using the scissors option. First, select a vertex of the fence using either the pointer tool or fence editing tool. The information about the vertex should be displayed in the Fence Data display. Then click the scissors button, or right click and choose "Break Fence After Here" from the drop down. The fence will be cut into two fences right after the selected vertex. Note that the fence segment just after the selected vertex will disappear when the fence is cut.

We hope that this tutorial has explained the creation and editing of fences in FSX Planner. FSX Planner contains many more features, and we hope that you are able to explore and benefit from them.
